Wave-Buoy Validation – 5 to 7 Day Forecast

Here we examine the set of the WAVEWATCH III wave height forecasts from 5 to 7 days out (magenta), compared to the measured significant wave heights from the NDBC buoy (black).  The confidence of this 5- to 7- day forecast is considered poor as only 60% of the forecasted wave hieghts were within a foot (0.35m) of the actual buoy height.
